身近にある草木を素材として、かつて人々の暮らしのそばに当然のように存在していた質感を再現する試みを続けている。均質な素材を丁寧に選別し、整理して揃え、束ねて並べることでひとつの面を構成し、その質感を表現すること。また、それらが風雨にさらされ、時間の経過とともに色や形が変化していく様を表現すること。立体造形作品の制作と、それらを撮影した写真作品の両面から、忘れられつつある素材の記憶を掘り起こす活動を行っている。 Working with grasses and plants gathered from his immediate surroundings, Goto pursues the recreation of textures that once existed naturally alongside human life. By carefully selecting, ordering, and layering homogeneous materials, he constructs surfaces that carry the memory of those textures. Through both three-dimensional works and the photographs made from them, he excavates the fading memory of materials that have been all but replaced by industrial production.
